Monta Ellis under 13.5

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Monta Ellis has seen his career slowly tail off as his inefficient scoring and poor defence become less tolerable in the modern NBA. It is crazy to think at one point in human history that there were people around the league who thought the Warriors should have kept Ellis over soon to be crowned back-to-back MVP Steph Curry. How times have changed. Ellis is now a third and often fourth option on an Indiana Pacers team which is generally speaking devoid of offence outside of Paul George and George Hill. For a guy who’s calling card is scoring the basketball…

DeAndre Jordan under 14.5 & JJ Redick under 18.5

The injuries to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have created opportunities for both the Clippers bench mob and bettors. In most cases when a star player or two goes down the usage rate of the remaining starters goes up and so does their production. Chris Paul however is not your average star and the remaining Clippers starters aren’t likely to step up so easily. While the bookies have set their lines higher with the injuries, we dig a little deeper and see that DeAndre Jordan and JJ Redick will suffer more than they will benefit. Both Jordan and Redick are…

Demar Derozen under 21.0

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Entering the playoffs as the number 2 seed in the east, DeMar Derozen and the Toronto Raptors had great hopes of making serious noise in the playoffs but so far their star backcourt has been a disappointment. Derozen has been smothered by Paul George and the Pacers. By going under on every pick and roll Frank Vogels team has challenged Derozen to become a perimeter shooter and he has failed miserably going 0-8 from three through four games. Additionally the Pacers have been clearly instructed to keep their hands out to avoid letting Derozen get to the free throw line…

Al-farouq Aminu under 10.5

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Recognised mostly as a defender and strong rebounder from the wing Al-farouq Aminu started every game this year and managed to average double digit scoring for the first time in his career. While he certainly hasn’t been an offensive focal point his shooting and confidence improved as the season wore on. Against Aminu’s former team the Los Angeles Clippers however he has struggled mightily this season. In seven games spanning the regular season and playoffs Aminu is yet to score more than 10 points and is shooting a hideous .294 from the field. The Clippers have been trapping Damian Lillard…

Tobias Harris under 14.5

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Throughout this series Tobias Harris has been inconsistent at best. Guarded by a focused Lebron James he has been passive in attacking the basket and relegated to essentially a spot up shooter. He has averaged 11.7ppg in the first three games and has looked like a shadow of his former self. Our projection has him going under.

Ian Mahinmi under 7.0

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

This season has been a breakout for Ian Mahinmi, posting career highs in pretty much every single statistical category and a likely top 10 finish in the Most Improved Player award. This has happened despite the emergence of rookie Myles Turner who looks like to be a solid contributor going forward. Towards the end of the season Mahinmi lost a little momentum and that poor form has carried over into the playoffs. He suffered a back injury in game two and looked like he was playing through pain which limited his effectiveness in game three. Myles Turner scored 17 in…

Zach Randolph under 16.0

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

The Memphis Grizzlies have been decimated by injuries late in the season. Even with a healthy squad they were never truly in title contention however with franchise cornerstones Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Mike Conley they were always going to be a difficult opponent in the playoffs. As it stands now ZBo is the last man standing. The San Antonio Spurs know this well and through the first two games of the series they have thrown double teams at Randolph every time he catches the ball in a scoring position. This has led to Randolph shooting 8/30 for 8.5ppg through…

Norman Powell under 9.0

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Toronto enters game three against the Pacers under a significant amount of pressure. Having not made it past the first round since Vince Carter’s golden era, the Raptors have set themselves up with a franchise best regular season leading to the 2 seed in the east. With a dubious start to the series splitting the first two games and giving up home court advantage, Toronto now must head to Indiana and claim at least one victory to get them back on track. What this will likely mean for the rotations is it will tighten and some of the bench players…

Tristan Thompson under 7.5

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Game one in the Cavs Pistons first round series was one of the better games we have seen so far in a playoffs littered with blowouts and low scoring games. A tight contest all the way through the upstart Pistons actually led the heavily favoured Cavs by 7 early in the fourth quarter. That was the point however that Tyronne Lue made the bold decision to insert Kevin Love at center to draw Andre Drummond away from the basket and kickstart the Cleveland offence, and it worked. The Cavs ended the game on a 30-18 run with Love finishing with…

Danny Green under 8.0

By | Daily tip, Playoffs | No Comments

Danny Green has certainly had a roller coaster career, and this year has been no exception, but not in a good way. From the lofty heights of being a potential finals MVP in 2013 to this season where he has struggled with his shot and been flat out awful all year. It speaks volumes to how much confidence Gregg Popovich has in Green that he hasn’t been benched already due to his poor play, he is likely only saved by his terrific defence. The poor form has led Green not only to miss shots, but avoid shooting altogether. This was…
