Many pundits have been surprised with De’Aaron Fox’s performance this year as a lead guard but the reality is they shouldn’t be. An elite high school recruit and a star at Kentucky, Fox was thrown into a tough situation as a rookie sharing minutes with George Hill and at the mercy of Dave Joegers strange rotations and general poor coaching.
To his credit, Joeger came out in preseson and handed the keys to the franchise to Fox and commited to playing a run and gun style perfectly suited to his game. As a result Fox has been unlocked, averaging 19 ppg and 7 apg to lead the Kings surprising start. Fox has cleared this line each of his last four games and against Dennis Schroder and the Thunder he should have no trouble doing so again.
