Kyrie Irving has been terrific in the new year, averaging 26.2ppg in the month of January and 31ppg over the last five games, highlighted by a 49 point explosion against New Orleans.
Kevin Love has been ruled out of the game against Dallas already and the main benefactor of his absence will be Irving. With Love on the floor, Irving’s usage is 26.9 however when he is off that skyrockets to 34.1! As a result, Irving averages +7.1 points per 100 possessions without Love.
Despite Dallas playing at one of the slowest paces in the league, Irving should still cover this with ease, with the point guard rotation a mess for the Mavs. With injuries to Deron Williams and JJ Barea, the Mavs have taken turns starting Pierre Jackson and Yogi Ferrell at the point guard position the last two games which resulted in Russell Westbrook going off for 45 and an aging Tony Parker dropping 16 in 23 minutes.
