When Tim Hardaway Jr signed a four year, $80 million deal with the New York Knicks two years ago, the media and fans heavily criticised the deal as a classic Knicks overpay and one of the worst in the league. While the contract is still an overpay, Hardaway Jr has done a long way to quieten the talk about his performance.
Hardaway Jr has proved to be a consistent lead scorer for a Knicks team missing Kristaps Porzingis, averaging 23.9 ppg. He’s not much more than a gunner and doesn’t contribute a lot positively to winning games, however he can certainly get buckets. He performs well at home and Portland’s backcourt defence leaves a lot to be desired so with Hardaway Jr averaging nearly 20 shots a game he should clear this comfortably.
